Q: Does my pet need to be up
to date on vaccines to be spayed/neutered?
A: No. Although we highly recommend that your animal always be up to date on vaccines, it is not a requirement for surgery.
Q: What does my dog need to board at a
kennel?
A: Each kennel has the authority to set their own requirements. Reputable kennels require a bordetella vaccination (kennel cough) and flea treatment/prevention at bare minimum. You should consult with any kennel you are boarding your animals with in advance to make sure your pet meets their requirements.
Q: When is flea season?
A: On the coast flea season is 365 days a year. Despite incorrect rumors, it does not get cold enough here in the winter to kill off the fleas. We recommend all animals to be on flea prevention year round.

prescription?
A: No. Deworming products are ALL by prescription only. However, when your pet has been examined by a veterinarian, an "open prescription" on dewormer is available for ONE YEAR. Deworming products are based on the species of your pet, and the amount of tablets will depend on your pets weight.

Q: Can I get a prescription refilled without
making an appointment?
A: Prescription refills are completely up to the doctors. Every doctor who scripts out medications is legally responsible for that prescription. A doctor may deny a refill if appropriate blood work, rechecks or any other recommendations are not met, or if they feel it is not in the best interests of the animal. It is our hospital policy to NOT refill any prescriptions if the animal has not had an exam (at bare minimum) within the last year.
