Fleas

The flea is one hard working insect that is determined to interfere with our pets and even our lives. They infest our pets; move into our houses and even bite us.

If you have an itchy scratching pet, you may have a flea problem. Fleas are small, but noticeable to the human eye, they are brown / black insects that scurry around on the skin. Flea dirt (excrement) is usually visible as black "pepper" specks at the base of the hair.

Controlling fleas means treating your pet and the house. Fleas feed on blood from the pet for about a week, and then jump off to lay their eggs. Fleas like warm, dark places such as the carpet, the pet's bedding, the couch, or under the floorboards.

Here on the coast Flea s are a year round problem, our mild temperate climate allows them to continue to breed even through winter months, only areas where the temperature does get below the freezing mark for a number of months does it become a seasonal issue for treating pets for fleas.
