To further increase the safety of surgical procedures we include pre-anaesthetic blood tests with most of our surgeries, to rule out any pre-existing conditions.
Note:*An animal 7 years of age or older is required to have pre-anesthetic blood work before any procedure requiring anesthesia.*
Blood tests help us determine whether or not your pet can properly process and then eliminate the anaesthetic that he or she is given. Sometimes, even apparently healthy dogs and cats harbour hidden health conditions that can put them at an additional risk for anesthesia.
Pre-anesthetic testing can also provide a baseline for your pet and become part of his or her medical record for future reference. There are several options for pre-anaesthetic bloodwork. If your pet has blood drawn ahead of time we can send a sample away to our lab for a complete panel or we can perform in house testing the same day as the surgical procedure. If you are unsure of what blood tests to run please contact us!
